Getting Ready

So, it's Sunday evening and the last day of the month; January 2016. My project / mission / ridiculous idea begins its journey in two days time and I have been thinking hard about what I can do in order to ensure I stay motivated and certain to see this through. You may be thinking why I'm starting this on the second day of the month. Well I have to be realistic and need a day off. Giving that the weekend will most likely be the most profitable for me, I have decided to have Monday as a family day.

One thing that I have been thinking (and slightly concerned about) is how do I ensure I remain fully concentrated throughout the day, every day without fail. I'm being honest to myself here as I have a real tendency to drift off. When I was in school (which seems like an lifetime away now) I was renowned for ignoring everything around me and simply spend my days staring out of the window. My grades reflected that very much. So how do I fight that urge to, well, do nothing?

  • This diary / blog
  • Fitness
  • Hydration
  • Sleeping pattern - get one
  • Healthy(ish) eating
The main reason for me doing this blog is so that I can reflect on where I am at in my journey, Logging things (hopefully on a daily basis) so that I know both what I have achieved so far and what I need to improve. If you improve your weakness then you can fight stronger the following day. Not only that, if enough people enjoy my dulcet writing skills then I can make a hint of money through affiliate marketing, helping me ever more to achieve my goal.

Fitness is something I certainly need to improve if I'm going to do this. I am definitely overweight which indirectly affects my thinking process as well as my motivation. I feel constantly tired and this is partly down to my overall fitness. I also think a big factor as to why I feel lethargic all the time is my thoughts on drinking water - its astoundingly boring. Tea, milk and alcohol - now we're talking. But water, pfft. But if I am to do this, then that is something that I will need to address. Same goes for my sleeping pattern and diet. Eating cheese at 12 am, going to bed at 2am then getting up at 5am every morning is a surefire way to end up 6ft under, so I need to put a lot of effort into this.

I know all of the above will do wonders for each other. But the thought of completely changing my entire lifestyle is somewhat daunting. Without going all Buddha on you, this is a complete change of body and mind. I'm 35 and there is a lot routine and bullshit that is ingrained into me and changing that is going to be a challenge. But isn't a big part of life about the necessity to improve yourself? I think so. And that is what I'm going to do.

How The Hell Am I Going To Do This?

So, how the bloody hell am I going to save up £50k in one year? Considering I struggle to save enough room for dessert at tea time, this is going to somewhat of a struggle. But, and most importantly, not impossible.

Well, there are a few options and I guess to achieve my goal I will have to do quite a few things. After all, I'm not a banker or investor. In fact, I don't even have a job as such. But I do have a plan. My profit will come from the following areas:

  • Affiliate marketing
  • Matched Betting
  • Sports Trading
  • Trading Cars
  • Wholesale & Drop-shipping
  • Running Events

After thinking hard about this project, I have come up with the above as my key skills. Or should I say skills that I think I could build on in order to make this work.

One thing I will need to work on heavily is my discipline. I have a huge vacuous space in me where discipline should be. So I'm going to have to work bloody hard to keep it in check. So as long as I concentrate mainly on that area then the rest should all fall into place.

Hello and welcome

Now this isn't really for anyone else but me. It is a personal journey for which I am setting myself a goal to earn and save £50k in one year. That is £50k SAVED, not earned. It's something I'm sure we've all thought about doing. But I'm sick of just thinking about it. It's about time I got off my arse and do something about it.

I have had my own businesses over the past few years that, although were much fun to run, didn't make much money at all. In fact one even hemorrhaged quite a bit, causing me to fall casually into debt. I plan to clear at least half of that during this 12 month period also. My businesses were all based around my first passion - music. But as much as I loved them, I have a much bigger need for the thing that drives the world around... money.

So why £50k? Firstly, why the hell not. Secondly, I am sick of being skint. There are plenty of things that I want to do, but am unable due to funds. Or lack of. Plus I have a family now which have a wonderful charm as they cost me dearly. So it's time to set myself a goal. And that goal is this. Clear off my debts and, once my living costs have been taken out, have £50k in savings by the end of the 12 months.

Is it possible? Who knows. But I'm pretty darn determined. I can only try.
