4th Feb Entry

So today has been a great day. Not in terms of profits, but getting my mindset where it needs to be. My fitness plan has started (albeit small) and I have managed to sink a hefty amount of water throughout the day. It's pretty astonishing how great I feel from just doing a couple of extra things throughout the day. How does this help? My workload today has increased tenfold. So what have I been doing today?

Trading

I made a fairly decent increase today. My trading journey has a long way to go as I only started studying over 2 months ago. But I managed to turn £10 into £15. Minuscule I hear you say. And yes, that is true. But I am only using small stakes until I get my confidence with what I am doing. One of the keys to being successful in trading sports is to build a portfolio of systems that you are comfortable in using and know inside out. I am still building that portfolio and learning my trade. But to turn £10 into £15 is a ROI of 50% which, when you look at it that way, is super impressive. Once I am confident that certain system will work consistently, then I will increase my stakes in order to compund my investment.

Websites

During the day I have been knee deep in Wordpress building Profit Patron & Bets & Stats. I have built websites in the past, but it's not necessarily something that comes naturally to me and as such, takes a fair bit of concentration. Especially when YouTube is calling me on a somewhat regular basis. That is why when I'm working I try and turn all social media and email off. It is really effective as I have a mind like a sponge when it comes to pointless clips of pets on automated hoovers.

I have also been putting a five year plan together which has been very exciting for me. I think it is very important with not only this, but most things you do in life is to look at the long term goal. I'm not that old in the grand scheme of things but I'm certainly not getting any younger. It's time to start thinking long term if I am to achieve what I want to achieve. Dream big and aim higher.

Today's Profits

After shopping for the family and various other essential outgoings such as website subscriptions and plug-in purchases, my profit for the day was actually a loss of -£75.22. Considering at one point I was in the red by £200,then this isn't bad at all. Some days I will be in the red. The joys of family and general day to day living.

This is long term profit I'm looking at. And as long as the profits far outweigh the red then all is great. I'm still up £415.91 for the month, and it's only the fourth so that's still an average of £103.98 per day, so still above target. I just need to up things up a little after the last couple of days. I also know that next week is going to be insane for profits. I have many bookmaker signups to do plus I have a few more systems to try for trading, so I'm really looking forward to that.

February is going to be a somewhat slow month compared to the rest of this exciting journey. After all this is the start of my path and I am still developing various things such as websites and portfolios etc. Having this ingrained in my head is keeping me headstrong. So long as the end goal is reached in the required time-frame then I have completed my initial goal, allowing me to implement the rest of my plans that I have been putting together for years 2-5.

Reflection on the 2nd day

It's 7am and I have woke a little later than expected today. It seems getting up has become somewhat of a problem since I started this challenge. Last month I was easily getting up at 5am nearly every morning without fail. So the fact that I am struggling to since I have started this challenge highlights to me that I have become somewhat daunted by the whole process. Why else would I be struggling? Yes I have had a couple of late nights. But I have stayed up late my entire life. Why are these 3 days any different?

This next 12 months are going to be a huge mind game. That's the beauty of writing this blog. I woke up and thought about writing this, and it made allowed me to take 5 and truly look at why I was struggling to wake up on time. The battle between now and January 2017 will not be to save up £50k. It will be a battle with myself. This whole process is a mind game and I need to understand that if I am to ensure that this succeeds. If I wasn't writing this then I wouldn't have reflected on that. I would have gone through the day in the same mindset as yesterday. I feel much better in the thought process now. I'm feeling positive.

Day two figures

2/2/2016: £-14.38

My daily target throughout February is only £75 per day.

I spent most of the day yesterday working on my websites and knew that my daily total would be minimal. Howevr going forward, I must ensure that no day (or as few as possible) presents the dreaded red on my balance sheet.

I have two websites on the go at present. One is Profit Patron (www.profitpatron.co.uk) and the other is Bets & Stats (www.betsandstats.com). I am making Profit Patron in order to show people just how profitable Matched Betting is. It has been paying my bills for the last 6 months and feel it is something that must be shared with people. There is a huge amount of content that I am writing for it, so it is taking far longer than possible. So if you are reading this and are anxious to get on board, please bare with me.

1st day done

So the first day has been and I have to say that when I woke this morning, I did not feel as confident as I do now. You see I stayed up very late thinking hard bout this journey, with mixed emotions of pure excitement and sheer worry. It got that bad that I stuck on a hypnosis video from YouTube after looking at the clock and realising it was 2am. My alarm was set for 5am. Needless to say I slept through it. So when I woke this morning, I was extremely pissed off with myself. I spent the first hour of the day fretting and basically taking my frustration out on the missus. The first day of my journey to better my financial situation and I was worse off than what I would have been had I not made these ridiculous plans.

After I calmed down I went to the office and began to compose myself. I spent the next couple of hours doing some administration and planning some structure for the rest of the day. Admin done, I started to look through the offers for the day which were available to me. Although it was a relatively quiet day in terms of offers, I have struck incredibly lucky with one offer netting me £450 profit. Which I am eternally grateful for if it wasn't for that I would only by up £20 profit for the day.

Total profit looks like this:

Slot Offers

  • BetVictor Offer: £450
  • Skyvegas Offer: £59.20
  • Betway Offer: £38
  • Stan James Offer: -£8
  • Paddy Power: -£39
Signup Offers
  • TitanBet: £24.51
So total net profit (minus a few costs) for the day is £520.51.

That has taken a bit of pressure off for the next few days which will allow me to work on my new site www.profitpatron.co.uk. There is a huge amount of content still needing to be written and I plan to have this finished by the end of this month. After today's success that means I have a few days to put most of my attention into that. I also have another review to do for my new website www.betsandstats.com which I will try and complete tonight.

I must wake up on time tomorrow though.

One More Sleep

Family day today and what a nice day it has been. I feel fully charged and ready for the big day tomorrow. The beginning of a new journey. A new challenge. I am ready.

My routine

The alarm is set for 5am. Damn that's early. But it's got to be done if I am going to be in with any chance of doing this. Over the last couple of months I have managed to save up £2.5k. Impressive considering from my first ever wage I have subconsciously made it my intention to spend every last bit of cash on whatever I could. So trust me, saving that much has seemed alien to me. But not hard. Which fills me with some promising confidence in achieving this. I intend to turn that £2.5k into £50k within 12 months. That's 52 weeks. 365 days.

One more sleep.

Getting Ready

So, it's Sunday evening and the last day of the month; January 2016. My project / mission / ridiculous idea begins its journey in two days time and I have been thinking hard about what I can do in order to ensure I stay motivated and certain to see this through. You may be thinking why I'm starting this on the second day of the month. Well I have to be realistic and need a day off. Giving that the weekend will most likely be the most profitable for me, I have decided to have Monday as a family day.

One thing that I have been thinking (and slightly concerned about) is how do I ensure I remain fully concentrated throughout the day, every day without fail. I'm being honest to myself here as I have a real tendency to drift off. When I was in school (which seems like an lifetime away now) I was renowned for ignoring everything around me and simply spend my days staring out of the window. My grades reflected that very much. So how do I fight that urge to, well, do nothing?

  • This diary / blog
  • Fitness
  • Hydration
  • Sleeping pattern - get one
  • Healthy(ish) eating
The main reason for me doing this blog is so that I can reflect on where I am at in my journey, Logging things (hopefully on a daily basis) so that I know both what I have achieved so far and what I need to improve. If you improve your weakness then you can fight stronger the following day. Not only that, if enough people enjoy my dulcet writing skills then I can make a hint of money through affiliate marketing, helping me ever more to achieve my goal.

Fitness is something I certainly need to improve if I'm going to do this. I am definitely overweight which indirectly affects my thinking process as well as my motivation. I feel constantly tired and this is partly down to my overall fitness. I also think a big factor as to why I feel lethargic all the time is my thoughts on drinking water - its astoundingly boring. Tea, milk and alcohol - now we're talking. But water, pfft. But if I am to do this, then that is something that I will need to address. Same goes for my sleeping pattern and diet. Eating cheese at 12 am, going to bed at 2am then getting up at 5am every morning is a surefire way to end up 6ft under, so I need to put a lot of effort into this.

I know all of the above will do wonders for each other. But the thought of completely changing my entire lifestyle is somewhat daunting. Without going all Buddha on you, this is a complete change of body and mind. I'm 35 and there is a lot routine and bullshit that is ingrained into me and changing that is going to be a challenge. But isn't a big part of life about the necessity to improve yourself? I think so. And that is what I'm going to do.

How The Hell Am I Going To Do This?

So, how the bloody hell am I going to save up £50k in one year? Considering I struggle to save enough room for dessert at tea time, this is going to somewhat of a struggle. But, and most importantly, not impossible.

Well, there are a few options and I guess to achieve my goal I will have to do quite a few things. After all, I'm not a banker or investor. In fact, I don't even have a job as such. But I do have a plan. My profit will come from the following areas:

  • Affiliate marketing
  • Matched Betting
  • Sports Trading
  • Trading Cars
  • Wholesale & Drop-shipping
  • Running Events

After thinking hard about this project, I have come up with the above as my key skills. Or should I say skills that I think I could build on in order to make this work.

One thing I will need to work on heavily is my discipline. I have a huge vacuous space in me where discipline should be. So I'm going to have to work bloody hard to keep it in check. So as long as I concentrate mainly on that area then the rest should all fall into place.
